Down The Road is a human interest documentary series about six young adults with Down syndrome. They meet for the first time on the day they embark on a 3-week road trip, guided by the host (Dieter Coppens) and companion Saar. In an environment completely new to them, they are challenged to work together, show initiative and define their independence. They explore foreign cultures, go camping in nature and enjoy thrilling adventures. Over the course of 10 episodes, their unfiltered approach to life offers new and often inspirational insights on love, work, family, friendship and living with Down syndrome.
The show was a smash hit in Belgium and was awarded with the AIB Impact Award 2019, celebrating the outstanding achievement in factual content that generated the most significant impact on its viewers and broader social context. This international recognition for the second season follows the Rose d’Or for factual entertainment and wins at the World Media Festival Hamburg and New York Festivals TV & Film Awards for the first season.
